Best of Breed Hardware Swapped Op System

Postby Claudekrowe » Sat May 21, 2011 1:52 pm

This is one of the more unusual hardware specific articles that I have read in recent times and considering the writers a Lenovo Thinkpad devotee;

The author is from the Win Super Site team (US) and he chose to buy a Macbook Air as his dedicated travel notebook device and then take a leap of faith and totally remove OS X and instead replace with Windows 7 Ultimate

It will be very interesting to see his post regarding his configuration methods & comments in Part 2

He really loves his windows based solutions but also has a keen desire to use a Macbook to travel with as he indicates the 2.9 pounds feather weight is an important consideration for travelling. It is a very interesting read to see the minor hardware differences (eg a lack of Windows Key on the Macbook) the glass track pad and the gloss screen display and how users overcome them OR just adapt your typing & use style in the end, make time to learn the new hardwares differences ...

I acknowledge the Author (P Thurrot from Winsuper site) in adding this thread post to the Helstra Blog Thanks Paul for a well written piece

Great article , thanks for sharing.. :-bd

One thing i want to share is I disagree with him, that MAC's have better hardware than PC's..

Those who are experienced with both systems will tell you that MACs have always had better software... well the margin is slowly getting smaller since windows 7.

MAC's hardware has always been inferior, one of the reasons why Intel stepped in..

When I used to work at Domayne Computer dept in Alexandria as a Tech Manager in Sydney, I used to send back many many MACS and iPods for their hardware faults daily.. Apple never bothered repairing them, they were always replaced..
