Days of Telstra dominance in Regions to End

With the roll of NBN fibre to the regions, unlocks those lucky customers from the tentacles of T$ copper. :-bd

Our very customer focussed ISPs have a high level of confidence they can finally break Tel$tras regional dominance, story here;

One of lifes great mysteries, turns out had we stayed put in the last town we lived, we would have received Fixed Wireless NBN from mid 2013!

The paradox that we are now living in one of the fastest growing (CQ coast) regions in Qld and possibly the whole country and we will wait another three to four more years for the NBN FTTH :-\

Our LNP Fed (Ken O'Dowd) was in our local press today, bagging the NBN, saying it has caused all sorts of hurt!!

Gosh what a load of old cobblers he talks! Ken ole mate, if it was left to Telstra, they would continue milking copper and deliver a FTTN only roll. Do it once with fibre - it is done right for years, Oh and that's right LNP mates over at Telstra get their noses out of it - FOR GOOD hopefully

Pity he could just not take a bi-partisan (NBN) position for the good of his constituents and get behind it!! (-|

I don't understand why the telstra fan boys are worried, telstra will still be making money from the NBN as they will be running it I assume.

An Open access - same price for anyone, Layer 2 fibre network (or Wireless - Satellite for remote places or those towns less than 1000 premises) will then allow people to choose a Retail partner of their choice.

Telstra no longer own the whole broadband road and will have to COMPETE in all Facets, for the FIRST time ever!

From my limited understanding, the revenue will go back to the network owner, initially NBN Co (Gov mint)
NBN Co will pay Telstra to decommission each copper loop service customer, replaced (upgraded) by FTTH fibre, this is why they are scrambling to 24 month contract as many customers with T-BUMdles!! :-q

The result of the next federal election (likely to be LNP - but it is never assured!) gives the Noalition an opportunity to favour their mates in Telstra BUT many contracts will already be inked and it will come at a cost to dismantle. And the latest surprise is that Turnbull has back-flipped and has been quoted to say they will now KEEP THE NBN - go figure. :-?

The improvement from poor copper ADSL over to FTTH fibre for long suffering Aussies was one main platform how they lost the last election as Tony Windsor and Rob Oakshott both favoured the idea of fibred services

Reading into it a bit more

Turnbull states he is a fan boy of FTTN (using copper last mile!) A Telstra Mate through and through ...

Oh my gawd, our tired ole copper loop may have to be milked forever more for our service :-q

Our local newspaper today had the headline" Julia: When will it be our turn" (for the NBN)

What has stirred up the editors is that our dear PM has visted areas to the North and South of us and these regions have had announcements about being connected up to the NBN

Our local Fed MP (Ken O'Dowd) is LNP and hence not the right colour

So the NBN Co is now NBN Pork Barrell Co!! Ha Ha :@)

Rural people who can see through the Bullsh!t layer of Telstra really just want NBN Co to get them fibre OR satellite and free them from the Hellish clutch of the Big T

This post by Whirlpool user xenophon typifies how hopeless the current models of Customer Support are. Read the litany of stuff ups and crossed messages here;

We now witness the lowest ebb of Hel$tra in Australia. It's dogged refusal to repair a fixed telephone service up here in Central Qld coast (Burnett Heads)

Managers from the local Telstra shop, Telstra Countrywide Bundaberg (I know for a fact they are blo0dy hopeless) right up to customer relationship managers on the CEO complaint line all confirm for this poor customer that TELSTRA REFUSE TO FIX HIS FAULTY LINE! b-(

Have a read of this diabolical situation here;
